About This Product

        Glass bioreactors are equipment used to culture organisms such as microorganisms, animal cells, plant cells or algae. They are mainly used in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food industry and academic research. Due to its transparent glass structure, researchers can clearly observe the culture process inside the reactor, which is convenient for experimental operation and monitoring.

Working principle

        Glass bioreactors provide an ideal environment for the growth of cells or microorganisms by precisely controlling parameters such as temperature, pH, stirring speed, dissolved oxygen, and gas supply. The culture medium in the reactor provides nutrients for the cells, and stirring and gas exchange ensure sufficient oxygen supply and exhaust gas discharge to maintain good growth conditions.

Design features

  1. Transparent glass structure: The glass material enables users to directly observe the growth in the reactor, especially in studying cell morphology, color changes of culture fluid, etc., providing obvious advantages.
  2. Chemical corrosion resistance: Glass materials have good corrosion resistance and are suitable for biological culture and chemical reactions in acidic and alkaline environments.
  3. A variety of sizes and designs: From small laboratory-scale bioreactors (such as 1-5 liters) to large industrial-scale reactors, glass bioreactors can be flexibly selected according to the needs of experiments or production.
  4. Aseptic operation design: The reactor is usually equipped with a variety of interfaces for aseptic sampling, nutrient solution replenishment and exhaust gas discharge to ensure the aseptic nature of the entire reaction process.

Main components

  • Glass reaction vessel: Made of transparent glass, the capacity and shape of the reaction vessel vary depending on the application requirements.
  • Stirring system: Through a mechanical stirrer or magnetic stirring system, the culture medium and gas are evenly distributed to avoid cell sedimentation or local nutrient deficiency.
  • Temperature control system: A heating jacket or external heating element is used to maintain the temperature inside the reactor to support the optimal growth environment for organisms.
  • Gas supply system: Through a gas diffuser or microporous bubbler, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases are supplied to ensure the normal respiration and metabolic processes of the cells.
  • Sensor system: Used to monitor key parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen concentration, stirring speed, etc. in the reactor. The automated control system can adjust these parameters to optimize the culture environment.

Application areas

  • Biopharmaceuticals: Used for the research and development and production of biological products such as antibodies, protein drugs, and vaccines. Cultivating cells or microorganisms in a bioreactor can efficiently produce these biological preparations.
